I am so excited about Christmas this year. I don’t know what it is but I just am. I have this huge desire to make this year and every year more memorable and special. We have a few family traditions that I love but I am looking for a few more. Ones that are simple, bring the family together, and maybe even are an act of service.
My absolute favorite tradition right now is singing Christmas hymns with the family on Christmas eve. We do most of our present opening that night and start off the festivities with as many Christmas hymns and children’s songs we know and then a reading from the Bible and Book of Mormon.
Would you share some of yours?
Here is a little incentive.
I have been tinkering around with reverse applique and made this covered journal and pouch. They are both made with repurposed corduroy pants and some Amy Butler fabric. The pouch is lined with repurposed linen curtains. (more pics on flickr)
The truth is, I had so much fun during my Birthday Give-Away and was wanting to have another one. Yesterday I saw this post of a dear friend of mine and I share in her sentiments about my blogs and realize that now is a great time. You can never have too much thanks and giving. Tis the season after all.
You should try it too. It feels so good to make something and then give it away. As I said in the comments to my friend’s post. When you give something away that you have made, not only do give something of beauty, you also give away alittle of yourself, and that always feels great.
So if your interested in receiving one of these gifts leave me a comment on this post. If your are feeling extra kind or have a tradition you want to share I would love to hear it.
My parents are coming into town tonight (I have so much to be thankful for) and we will be leaving on a long weekend trip to an undecided location Friday morning. I will close comments when I get back, on Monday I think, and draw a couple of names.
I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving.
